About

Devil o’ the Highlands Footrace 2027 follows a 42-mile, point-to-point course from Tyndrum to Fort William. The trail ultramarathon uses the West Highland Way and is predominantly off-road, with 95% trail and 5% road.

The route has 6,500ft of total ascent and a 12-hour time limit. It is waymarked, with extra yellow signs provided at points where the course could be unclear or leaves the main West Highland Way path. Four checkpoints support the route, while runners can use two checkpoint food drop bags and send kit bags ahead to the finish.

At the finish, runners can make use of free showers, home-made hot food and drinks. The event also offers free transport to the start or finish for runners who withdraw during the race.
