About
Spring Work Week 2027 invites guests to contribute to the life of Iona Abbey as it prepares to welcome visitors for the new season. Led by the Iona Abbey Team, the six-night programme brings together practical tasks, shared worship and time in community.
Participants work alongside staff, volunteers and fellow guests on projects around the Abbey and its grounds. Tasks may include gardening, painting, deep cleaning, preparing worship spaces and other seasonal work. No specialist skills are needed, only a willingness to join in.
The daily rhythm also includes worship in the Abbey Church, shared meals and opportunities to spend time on the island. Accommodation in the Abbey, meals and programme activities are included, with music, art and craft opportunities and guided walks also part of the stay.
The experience is designed for people who enjoy practical work and a shared purpose. It ends with a ceilidh celebration, marking the work achieved together ahead of the Abbey’s season of welcome and hospitality.
