About

Led by Quaker and Iona Community Leader Ruth Harvey, this four-night gathering offers gentle contemplative practices amid an Iona winter.

Guests have an individual room, providing a quiet place for personal reflection and contemplation between the shared parts of the programme. The week is not completely silent, bringing people together for community meals, work and worship.

Stillness in Community is designed as an opportunity to slow down within the setting of Iona Abbey. It combines time for personal quiet with the rhythms of a shared community stay, offering a considered programme for those wishing to explore stillness alongside others.

The event runs from the afternoon of Monday 9 November until the morning of Friday 13 November 2026 at Iona Abbey Centre.
