About
The Restless Gravel XTRI 2027 brings an extreme gravel triathlon format to the Arrochar Alps, combining a loch swim, high-ascent gravel riding and a technical mountain run.
The course begins with a 1.8km swim in a deep loch from the shores of an ancient castle. It continues with a 50km gravel ride through the Arrochar Alps, gaining nearly 2,000 metres of ascent and including Glen Gruel, described by the organisers as a demanding 5km section.
The final stage is a 25km mountain run to Ben Donich, via the Rest and Be Thankful, with 1,200 metres of ascent. The route is presented as tough and technical, with views from the mountain trail.
Its setting is shaped by local stories of historic drovers, cattle and travellers who used these roads. Legends of headless beasts, dark spirits and ghostly sightings form part of the event's surrounding folklore, giving this Scottish course a distinctive sense of place.
